This commissioned piece was a gift to the Hidden Valley Ashram Center in Escondido, California. The piece is a depiction of the Sanskrit character Aum (Om), the cosmic sound. The photos above show the piece after its installation in a newly completed shrine on the Ashram Center grounds (left photo), and the original installation on the Ashram property (right photo). The top photo is a close-up of the piece.
After studying the meaning of the various sections of the character, Paul chose to express this meaning by varying the texture on different parts of the piece.
