“Acrobats” was inspired by the Shakespeare play Pericles, which Paul saw at The Globe Theater in London. Initially a reaction to the acrobatics and tricks on ropes performed in the show, the deeper meaning reflects how one partner may serve as a solid base from which the other partner can feel supported to achieve lofty goals.
